If I haven’t pre-purchased my tickets can I still come on the day?
Yes! Tickets will be available from our gates for $15.00.
The cost of this ticket includes racecourse admission, a $5 donation to the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation and entry into a prize draw.
What are the dress regulations and acceptable attire:
Collared shirt, long trousers, closed toe shoes. Ties or jackets are optional.
Race wear skirts or dresses.
Not Acceptable:
Shorts, polo or t-shirts, thongs, sandals, joggers or sneakers. Fancy dress or brief clothing.
I’m going to George Michael Concert after the races – how am I going to get there?
Royal Randwick will be providing free shuttle buses leaving from the Alison Road bus way. First stop Football Stadium – last stop – Taylor Square!
The buses will be departing Royal Randwick from 6pm.
Can I bring a picnic lunch and alcohol to the races?
You are more than welcome to bring in your own picnic with soft drinks. Picnic baskets, esky’s and hampers are fine provided they contain no glass products. Please be aware that you are not permitted to bring BBQ's, picnic tables and beach/market umbrellas for health and safety reasons. There are outdoor tables, chairs and umbrellas provided free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.
As Royal Randwick is a fully licensed venue you are not permitted to bring alcohol into the venue. There are ample facilities provided to purchase alcoholic drinks on the day.
The Australian Jockey Club supports and enforces ‘Responsible Service of Alcohol’.
Our staff will not serve intoxicated people nor allow our patrons to become intoxicated on the premises.
What drinks do you serve at your bars?
Royal Randwick offers a full range of Sparkling Wines, Champagne, White Wine, Red Wine, Spirits, Liqueurs, Mineral Water, Orange Juice and Soft Drinks. Cocktails are also available.
Can I bring my children to the races?
Children are welcome at the Pink Stiletto!
Children must be under the immediate supervision of a responsible adult* at all times. There are no restricted areas within the racecourse, however patrons under the age of 18 are not allowed to approach any beverage outlets. Patrons under the age of 18 are not permitted to gamble and if caught will be prosecuted.
* responsible adult strictly refers to the following definition(s): NSW Liquor Regulation 2008
For the purposes of the definition of responsible adult in section 4 (1) of the Act, a person who is of or above the age of 18 years and who, in relation to a minor, belongs to one or more of the following classes of persons is, in relation to the minor, a responsible adult for the purposes of the Act:
(a) a parent, step-parent or guardian of the minor,
(b) the minor's spouse or any person who, although not legally married to the minor, ordinarily lives with the minor as the minor's spouse on a permanent and domestic basis,
(c) a person who is, for the time being, in loco parentis to the minor. (Definition - in loco parentis - In loco parentis is a legal doctrine describing a relationship similar to that of a parent to a child. It refers to an individual who assumes parental status and responsibilities for another individual, usually a young person, without formally adopting that person. For example, legal guardians are said to stand in loco parentis with respect to their wards).
Where is the pedestrian access ?
Pedestrians may enter the racecourse via Gate 1 (Alison Road, Main Drive), the new Gate 5 (Alison Road/Darley Street, Entrance Plaza) this replaces Gate 6 (Alison Road, 2000mtr Mark) which is now closed, Gate 19 (Carlton Street off Doncaster Ave) and Bowral Lane. Pedestrians are NOT to be allowed entry through any other gate. (Last updated Nov 2009)
What public Buses travel to Royal Randwick
Buses to Royal Randwick Racecourse depart Central Station from Eddy Avenue. Bus Routes to Alison Road include: 372, 374, 339 and 376.
Buses from Royal Randwick to Central Station depart from Alison Road Randwick (near Darley Street).
Where do taxis and hire cars drop off ?
Taxis and Hire Cars enter Randwick Racecourse via Ascot Street. The set down and pick up point is at the turnstiles located at the taxi rank. Vehicles are not permitted to stop on Alison Road.
What are the car parking facilities ?
Car parking is free and available at the infield car park, entry off High Street. (Across the road from University of New South Wales).
The Leger car park is closed. All members’ general parking is accessed via High street
Can private coaches (Over 3.4M High) access the racecourse ?
Patrons who organise their own coaches to transport them to and from Royal Randwick must use the designated set-down and pick-up area located along the southern side of Alison Road between Wansey Road and Cowper Street (see map for details).
Private coaches are permitted to park within this designated area for the duration of the race day.
Private coaches will not be permitted access into the Busway or the main driveway / Gate 1 to drop-off and pick-up passengers.
Can Mini-buses (Under 3.4M High) access the racecourse ?
Patrons organising mini-buses to transport them to and from Royal Randwick are to use the infield car park for all set-downs, pick-ups and parking.
Mini-buses over 3.4m high are to use the private coach designated area.
What are the Parking facilities for NSW Racehorse Owners Association ?
The Australian Jockey Club Limited has made provision for 50 car parking spaces in the infield car park (access via High Street) next to the main turnstiles. Please have your permit on display at all times.
Can I arrive via helicopter ?
If you are intending to come to the race course via helicopter, please contact our Security & Risk Manager Shane Brady on 02 9663 8500 to receive landing instructions.
Where is the disabled parking located and do you have disabled access to grandstands etc?
Disabled car parking is available at the Infield car park. Entry to the Infield car park is off High Street. An attendant will direct patrons to the specific disabled car parking area and a mobility buggy service will operate between the Infield car park and the racecourse. Please ensure a disabled parking sticker is on display at all times.
Wheel chair access is available to all lower levels of each grandstand and assistance can be sought from our gate attendants.
